Join us for a mandatory CQI training covering the Annual Care Flight Landing Zone Safety Briefing, presentations from Saint Mary's Hospital and our Peer Support team, and the introduction of the new Video Laryngoscope. This session will include hands-on skills stations, including difficult airway management practice. Your participation is essential to ensure we all master the new equipment before it’s rolled out.

REMSA Health’s Safety Seats program offers personalized appointments for car seat education and installation. You're welcome to bring your child, but it's not required. Please have your child’s most recent height and weight ready. Appointments are held at the REMSA Center for Integrated Health and Community Education, located at 400 Edison Way, Suite B.

The ACLS Provider Course equips participants with skills to manage the first 10 minutes of adult VF/VT arrest and 10 core ACLS cases, including respiratory, cardiac arrest, and prearrest emergencies, plus stroke.

 

Audience: Emergency, ICU, and critical care staff, as well as emergency medical personnel (physicians, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, etc.).

 

Required Materials: Bring a current ACLS Provider Manual and completed pre-test certificate. Manuals are available for $47 at REMSA Education (shipping available for a fee). eBooks (cannot be used during the final exam) https://ebooks.heart.org.

 

Prerequisites: Current BLS CPR certification and a passing ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment score (70%+)

 

This course requires a minimum enrollment of 4 students. If fewer than 4 students register, the course will be cancelled no later than 5:00pm 2-days before your class. If your class is on a Monday, you will be notified no later than 2:00pm on the Friday before class.

HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s ACLS hybrid learning delivery method. Hybrid learning is a combination of online learing, in which a student completes part 1 of the course in a self-directed manner online, followed by an in-person hands-on session.

Students may purchase the online portion as a product add-on at checkout, or directly through the AHA website at elearning.heart.org. The online part 1 portion of the ACLS Heartcode must be completed prior to the in-person skillls session.

This course is recommended for healthcare professionals who frequently either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrests and other cardiovascular emergencies. If you do not participate in cardiopulmonary arrests and other cardiovascular emergencies frequently, please see the course listing for the traditional in-person classes.

Students will be able to:

  1. Recognize and initiate early management of periarrest conditions that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care, including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating automated external defibrillator (AED) use
  3. Recognize and manage respiratory arrest
  4. Recognize and manage cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post–cardiac arrest care
  5. Recognize and initiate early management of acute coronary syndromes, including appropriate disposition
  6. Recognize and initiate early management of stroke, including appropriate disposition
  7. Demonstrate effective communication as a member or leader of a resuscitation team and recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance

HeartCode ACLS Part 1 requires prior knowledge that will be applied in using the ACLS treatment algorithms. To be successful in any ACLS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course.  

Students will need to bring your online completion certificate from http://elearning.heart.org/ to complete part 2 skills practice and testing.

The American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers core material including adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation.

 

Intended Audience: Emergency, ICU, and critical care staff, as well as emergency medical personnel (physicians, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, etc.) and anyone who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.


American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Student Manual is provided in class.

The American Heart Association’s BLS for Healthcare Providers Recertification course reviews core materials such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve-mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation. Participants will be required to complete a combination of hands-on skills practice, skills testing, and written exam to successfully complete this course.

 

Intended Audience: This course is intended for currently certified healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other allied healthcare professionals who are required to recertify a current AHA BLS certification. 

 

Please ensure your certification is current and valid; expired certifications will not be accepted when you arrive for class.

 

There is NO online pre-course portion for this course.

How We Teach

Our instructors will teach you live—in person, using training materials specially developed to teach bleeding control techniques. They will not only instruct you, they will be available to check your movements as you practice three different bleeding control actions. They will keep working with you until you demonstrate the correct skills to STOP THE BLEED® and save a life.

 

Intended audience

This course is intended for individuals with or without prior medical experience that may be present during any potential traumatic incident including active shooter situations or acts of terrorism. Law enforcement officers, security, teachers, outdoor enthusiasts and other civilians are encouraged to learn these potentially life saving skills. 

 

This is a community course and is open to all participants

 

The Heartsaver AED Course teaches one-rescuer CPR, Automated External Defibrillator use, and relief of choking in adults, children, and infants. The use of barrier devices for all ages will also be covered.


Intended Audience:  This course is intended for those who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements or those interested in learning how to respond in the event of an emergency.

This community course is open to all participants

The Kid Care Babysitting class is designed to teach adolescents the basics of caring for young children. Techniques for setting up babysitting opportunities, diaper changes, bottle-feeding, ABC's of safe sleep, playtime activities, and taking charge of situations while babysitting are covered. The course also includes pediatric first aid and CPR training.

 

Audience: For those interested in babysitting for young children. Average age for this course is between 12 and 15 years old. Minimum age is 10 years old.

 

Courses held at REMSA include lunch (not a beverage), student manual and course completion card. PALS is designed to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Audience: Pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.

This course is being offered by Remsa Education and Clinical Dept. It is designed for field qualified Paramedics and EMT-Advanced personnel. The FTO/Intern preceptor development course provides the FTO the tools to be an effective one-on-one trainer and coach. The class is structured to use the principles of learning and evaluation in realistic situations. Each participant will learn to use and update training materials, to document performance, to recognize the trainee’s learning style. The participant will also learn to plan a remedial training to correct deficiencies in the performance and to provide critical input into retention and termination decisions.

CQI Skills training sessions

First on the Scene (FOTS), developed by NAEMT and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), provides instructors with a toolkit to teach the general public basic emergency response to life-threatening emergencies until EMS arrives on the scene. Through lesson presentations and hands-on skill stations, participants will learn how to access help in the event of a life-threatening emergency and what to do until EMS arrives. 

This course covers:
  • Activating the 911 system
  • Hands-only CPR and AED
  • Administering naloxone
  • Administering epinephrine
  • Responding to life-threatening bleeding
  • Penetrating chest trauma
  • Moving patients to safety
  • Positioning injured patients

 

FOTS

 

This self-paced ONLINE course is available year-round, allowing students up to 90 days to complete it. The course portal opens 1-2 business days after registration, so please do not visit REMSA Health for an in-person class.

 

The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program is designed for all perinatal healthcare providers—nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, pre-hospital providers, and assistants—who need to deliver crucial post-resuscitation stabilization care.

 

S.T.A.B.L.E. is the leading neonatal education program focused on post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care for sick infants. The name stands for six key assessment and care modules: Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support. An additional module, Quality Improvement, emphasizes the responsibility of enhancing care for sick infants.

 

The course takes approximately 5.5 hours to complete.

 

Continuing Education Credits:

Participants can earn 5.5 continuing education credits:

  • 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™
  • 5.5 ANCC contact hours (California Board of Registered Nursing and Florida Board of Nursing approved)
  • 5.5 contact hours of Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) by the AARC

Other healthcare professionals will receive certificates confirming the activity was designated for AMA PRA credit and awarded ANCC contact hours. Nevada state-approved EMS CE credits are also provided through REMSA Health.

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. This course content delivers curricula for Advanced Providers who may participate in neonatal resuscitation beyond positive pressure ventilation. This course accomodates both Full Certification and Recertification Providers.

 This is a hybrid course that requires the purchase and completion of the online course curriculum ($55) in addition to registration into this hands on course. THE ONLINE PORTION MUST BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN 24 HOURS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE HANDS ON CLASS. IF IT IS NOT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND.

 

To obtain an NRP Provider Card, an individual must successfully complete the NRP 8th Edition Provider Course components:

  1. Log in and create your student account at nrplearningplatform.com
  2. Click on Catalog tab and purchase the NRP 8th Edition ADVANCED Provider Curriculum. It is $55. NOTE: Be sure to select the ADVANCED option.
  3. Complete the Part 1 online 35-question assessment no later that 24 hours before class.
  4. Enroll in Part 2: Instructor-Led Event at nrplearning.com. Search for the date of the class seen below at REMSA.
  5. Arrive at REMSA Center for Integrated Health & Community Education with a copy of your certificate of completion from part 1. If you are unable to print your certificate, email a copy to ktimmons@remsa-cf.com AND have a screenshot available to show the instructor at the begining of the class.

PHTLS courses enhance trauma care quality and reduce mortality by treating multi-system trauma patients as unique individuals with specific needs. The program promotes critical thinking as essential for quality care, believing that EMS practitioners can make informed decisions with the right knowledge and principles. It emphasizes practical trauma education through case studies, skills practice, and patient simulations.

 

Hybrid Information: PHTLS Hybrid learning is a combination of online learning, in which a student completes part 1 of the course in a self directed manner online, and then part 2 is followed by an in- person hands on skills session. Students must purchase the online portion as a product add-on directly through the Jones and Bartlett Learning website. The mandatory online course is an additional fee to the in person skills. The link for purchase will be emailed with the confirmation email after registration.  

 

Audience: PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital practitioners.

 

Required Materials: 10th edition PHTLS textbook and completed mandatory online certificate. Manuals are available for $75 at REMSA Education.

 

Course minimum: This course requires a minimum enrollment of 3 students. If fewer than 3 students register, the course will be cancelled no later than 5:00pm 2-days before your class. 

 

 

 
This joint training effort, involving various departments in Northern Nevada, offers continuing education credits through a structured program of lectures and skills practice covering a wide range of topics. Local experts will lead engaging lectures and discussions on current, relevant subjects.

 

Attendance for the entire day is required to earn CE credits. Paramedics who complete the course will receive 24 CE hours, although this may not fulfill all recertification requirements. Additional hours for National Registry and state licenses can be obtained by attending courses like BLS CPR, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS. EMTs and AEMTs are also welcome to participate.

An additional symposium will be held on June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, future information will be provided when locations, instructors and hours are secured.

When: January 6th, 7th, 8th from 0900-1800. CE's will be issued per day of attendance.
