EMT Entrance Exam (Hybrid Course)

This Entrance testing is for the Hybrid EMT Course

Selection Process- Basic aptitude test including math, reading, writing and basic CPR knowledge. Candidates must register for one of the testing dates to become eligible for the EMT course. Candidate may only test one time during scheduled testing period per course. 

Please note, no electronics, cell phones, smart watches or backpacks are allowed in the testing room. 

Course Description - This is the entry level course to the Emergency Medical Service profession. Topics to be covered are: EMT roles and responsibilities, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, anatomy and physiology, documentation, lifting and moving, and communications. Practical labs will be conducted. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the National Registry test and certify as an EMT in the State of Nevada. Upcoming EMT Program start dates are the following:

Course Date: June 9th, 2025 - EMT Course content will be released one week prior to the due dates. Class will meet every Wednesday for mandatory in person lab and exam days. Lab days will take place from 09:00-15:00. Please be aware that some lab days may coincide with division exams dates which will then be, 09:00-17:00. (Entrance testing will be in person)
 
Course Information - REMSA Education reserves the right to make changes to the schedule or cancel a class due to low enrollment if needed.

Disclaimer - Students choosing to enter into the EMS profession will be required to participate in both the cognitive classroom education as well as the psychomotor skills education.  This class, as well as the EMS profession, will require students to be able to perform very physical tasks including lifting and moving, bending, walking, and sitting and standing for long periods.  Students are encouraged to look up the typical tasks of an EMT to gain a full understanding of the physical and mental demands of this class and the EMS profession.  All students will be subject to a background check in class prior to attending any clinical or field internship sites.  Students with adverse information in their background should contact REMSA prior to enrolling to discuss exclusion requirements.

Course Requirements -
Hep B three shot immunization series or a titer,
 MMR, Tdap (Tetanus needs to be within the last ten years to be valid), Varicella (either a history of chicken pox recorded or a varicella vaccine or titer), and a negative TB test within six months of the start of class, Flu vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption. 

Drug Screen and Background Check.

Health Insurance and valid driver’s license.

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification.
